Dress code as an element of professional culture of a university professor
The subject of this article is the relation to dress code in professional career, which is viewed as a factor of establishment of the image of organization. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the author determines the role and importance of dress code in the area of education, as well as defines the key aspects of dress code in interaction of an organization and a person: communicative, economic, legal, gender, and status differentiating. The article presents the opinion of the regional professors’ community regarding the possibility of implementation of such form of academic clothes as academic mantle. The methodology of this research contains the complex approach of examination of dress code as a factor of professional culture of a university professor. In accordance with the results of a survey of the professors’ community in reference to the mandatory wearing of academic mantle in the universities, the author believes that there is no need for implementation of the aforementioned form of academic clothes. The author also comes to a conclusion on the dual functionality of dress code that can increase or reduce the efficiency of work, due to which it should not be implemented as mandatory.
